Downtown Streetscape Extension

The Town of Mansfield has been selected to receive a Federal Enhancement Grant for the construction of a streetscape on Route 195 (Storrs Road) near the new Storrs Center project.

Though one project, the design is being considered in two sections. The first section, along the west side of Storrs Road from Bolton Road to South Eagleville Road, is intended to mirror the design being developed on the east side of route 195 by the Mansfield Downtown Partnership for the Storrs Center project. Our design will incorporate the same types of amenities, such as, a wide brick walk, trees and decorative lighting. The second section of this project involves an 5-8 foot walkway, together with some enhancement items, along the west side of Storrs Road from South Eagleville Road to Liberty Bank as well as a spur along the west side of Flaherty Road from Storrs Road to Storrs Heights Road. The design will also include improvements to the crosswalk across route 195 at Hanks Hill Road and the addition of a crosswalk at Liberty Bank.

The survey for this project has been completed an the Town’s Engineering Division is presently working on the design. Construction will coordinated with the Storrs Center project, hopefully to begin in the spring of 2009.
