Notes: A series of basic genealogy classes will be taught at the Mansfield Public Library by Laurie Cayer. Ms. Cayer is an experienced researcher and has researched the genealogy on her paternal side for over thirty years spanning back to the year 871 in England. She has had several of her articles published in area newspapers. Recently, she collaborated with another family to have all the Connecticut residents accused, convicted or executed for witchcraft exonerated by the Connecticut legislature. The classes will take place in the library's program room. There is no charge for this program and it is open to the public. What Civilian Conservation Corps: Their History, Lore and Legacy

Notes: Author Marty Podskoch will present a program on the New Deal's Civilian Conservation Corps camps in the Adirondacks and Connecticut. 2008 is the 75th anniversary of the founding of the CCC. Set up to relieve poverty and unemployment during the Great Depression, CCC workers built campsites, dams, fire tower cabins, roads, and trails in addition to fighting fires and planting millions of trees. Although the program was disbanded in 1942, the work of the CCC has made a lasting contribution to conservation. In addition to his presentation, Marty is also interested in meeting anyone who may have participated in the CCC. He will have copies of his books for sale. This event, co-sponsored by the Mansfield Historical Society, is open to the public at no charge. For additional information please contact the library at 860-423-2501.

Notes: Do you have too much of a good thing and would like to swap it for something new? Then start your potting and give our plant swap a try! To participate just bring a plant or plants to swap (perennial, annual, shrub or vegetable). Each plant you bring gives you the opportunity to exchange it for something new.

It?s a great way to meet other gardeners and share gardening tips and strategies. Please label your plants and bring them in any type of container you are willing to give away. We will present our plants and then swap!

This program is free and open to the public. Light refreshment will be served.
