A School Community of Excellence
We are a nationally recognized Department of Education Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and a University of Connecticut Professional Development School serving 649 students in grades five to eight. Through the innovative use of interdisciplinary teams of teachers and differentiated instruction in a heterogeneous classroom environment, we strive to ensure that every student reaches her/his greatest potential. Our efforts are supported by a modern facility that includes a Library Media Center and an extensive school computer network.

Our local community, the town of Mansfield, is home for 20,720 residents in Northeastern Connecticut and includes the main campus of the University of Connecticut as well as the largest library in New England. Mansfield is a K-8 district comprising three elementary schools and one middle school, with students attending E.O. Smith High School (Regional School District #19) or Windham Vocational Technical School for grades 9-12.

School Philosophy
Mansfield Middle School is committed to the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth of every child. We believe in the success of children. We believe that children mature at dramatically different rates. We believe that varying the teaching methods, adapting the curriculum to suit individual students' needs, and providing challenge will help develop knowledge, self-esteem, independent thinking, and community awareness.
