MMS Reading
Use the links below to learn more about our content reading curriculum:

5th Grade Reading
Reading skills are critical in all subject areas. Reading classes meet daily to discuss fiction and non-fiction. Teachers incorporate materials from an integrated language arts program, trade books and other literary selections.

6th Grade Reading
Sixth grade reading curriculum promotes the development of content area reading skills and the love of reading through "real" books, newspapers, magazines, and other publications. Assignments include journal writing, silent reading, reading aloud, reviewing books and many activities coordinated with language arts.

8th Grade Reading in the Content Area
Reading in the Content Area develops students’ reading strategies while encouraging students to read and discuss books with issues that are pertinent to the science and mathematics curricula, and to themes in American social history. Eight core texts will be supplemented with readings from current scientific journals, newspapers, excerpts from appropriate video material, and books on topics chosen by the students themselves.
