Congratulations Mr. Dean!

On November 18, 2004, Mr. Steve Dean was recognized with a Professional Merit Award by the Connecticut Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Professionals. Mr. Dean was recognized for his outstanding teaching, his commitment to educating future physical education teachers, and his contributions to his field. We are all very proud of the honor Mr. Dean received. We are most proud that he brings his talents here to Goodwin's students every day! Congratulations, Mr. Dean!

Trestle Tree is Coming!!!!

It's that time of year again. When we return to school on January 3, the trestle tree will have arrived at Goodwin's gym. What a wonderful thing to look forward to as winter sets in!

Emergency Closings

We've had a warm start to December but it's only a matter of time before the winter winds begin and we're digging out from our first snowstorm. This is the perfect time to talk with your child about what they will do in the event of an early closing. Please be sure your child knows which neighbor or friend they will go to if you are not at home. If you know that your child will always go to a different place on early closings, you can fill out a long term bus change form now. Remember that Goodwin's after school program also closes on emergency dismissals. All children who usually go to after school care will need an alternate plan and the office should know in writing what that plan is.

Winter Wonderland Giving Tree

As the weather turns cold, we remember that many children do not have the warm hats and mittens that most of us do. Students of Goodwin are encouraged to pick up a warm hat or warm pair of gloves/mittens to share with children who may not have them. A Winter Wonderland Giving Tree will be set up in front of the office. Donations of new hats or mittens will be greatly appreciated. Once our tree is full, we will donate the articles to WAIM.
